| Action: the Scanner needs always scanfood |
During the AIIM Show 2004 from March 8 to March 10, 2004 in New York, J&K introduced DpuScan 4.1 together with the new scanner generation from Microform initially to the American market.
On the common stand of J&K Imaging, Microform and KAB Scanning Resources, color scanning was shown in top speed with an excellent image quality.
320 images per minute (A4, 200dpi) in color, and additionally also grayscale images and black&white images with digital drop-out filter (also for different mixed colors at one time), certainly exactly straightened with clipped black borders – this is the outstanding performance of DpuScan 4.1 in connection with the Microform S655.
Different zones of the scanned image, in color, grayscale, or black&white with digital color filter, generated during the scan process – this was one of the most impressive demonstrations. Also the option of DpuScan to suppress rear pages showing through – processed on the color image – was like magic.
MDIT(Multi Dimensional Intelligent Threshold) in the driver of the S655 scanner simplifies the processing of mixed originals considerably. From the color image to the black&white image, all intermediate steps can easily be influenced. Gamma correction of the color image, mixing the color channels to a grayscale image with settable factors for every single channel, digital color filter from the color image to the grayscale image, and finally automatic threshold from the grayscale image to the bitonal black&white image. In all setting levels, it is still possible to review several already scanned images on the screen, for checking the effect, in real-time. The automatic threshold of MDIT surveys, while scanning, the quality and automatically adapts the threshold parameters without stopping the scan process.
The S655 from Microform had already been introduced during the DMS 2003 in Essen/Germany; now the complete pallet of the Four Aces from Microform is available:
- S415: black&white scanner, 120 pages per minute duplex (A4 landscape, 200dpi)
- S455: color scanner, 120 pages per minute duplex (A4 landscape, 200dpi)
- S615: black&white scanner, 160 pages per minute duplex (A4 landscape, 200dpi)
- S655: color scanner, 160 pages per minute duplex (A4 landscape, 200dpi)
The black&white scanners can later be upgraded to their relative color version.
All four scanners are equipped with image processing technology from Janich & Klass. The internal SCSI160 board with optional ACDP accelerator, combined with the drivers developed from J&K, is the key to this first-level capacity. The Four Aces from Microform are always offered together with DpuScan as this combination guarantees the optimum coordination of image processing from the camera in the scanner to the image on the hard disk.
In America, Microform scanners are exclusive marketed by KAB Scanning Resources. In Germany, you can get these scanners either from Microform directly, or also from Janich & Klass.
